Independent Contractor, Nurturing Parenting Facilitator
Brief Job Description:
The Independent Contractor (IC) Nurturing Parenting Facilitator will work with families at risk for abuse and neglect and facilitate evidence-based Nurturing Parenting Program Classes featuring activities that foster positive parenting skills and self-nurturing, home practice exercises, family nurturing time, and activities to promote positive brain development in children birth to 18 years of age. The program has been adapted to also serve families with special needs.
Using lessons that can be delivered in a home-based setting, group-based setting, or combination of home and group settings; the IC Nurturing Parenting Facilitator will assess, identify, and facilitate evidence-based Nurturing Parenting Program Classes using family-centered initiatives, training techniques, and tools designed to build nurturing parenting skills as an alternative to abusive and neglecting parenting and child-rearing practices. The IC Nurturing Parenting Facilitator is accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, facilitating, and reporting on all components of the Neviaser STAR, Nurturing Parenting Program, including but not limited to evidence-based parenting group, one-on-one, and in-home classes, educational support groups as needed, parenting workshops, publication of resource guides, etc.
Job Qualifications Required:
Bachelor of Arts in Education, Social Services, or a related field. Two years of experience in human and/or social services and/or two years experience training / group facilitation. Ability to work independently, lead and manage projects, and be an effective team member. Flexible schedule necessary for parenting classes and other evening/weekend activities. Knowledge of family programs. Certification in the Nurturing Parenting Program is preferred. Valid & current state employed in driver’s license, appropriate insurance and reliable car. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test. Must submit to pass random drug tests during employment. Must successfully pass all background screens as required by the state. Must complete 20-hours of staff development annually.
