SUMMARY: Serves as primary point of contact for DCF Child Protective Investigators to accept
and screen referrals. Provides direct services to families on triage list prior to assignment to
Diversion or other appropriate community services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Serves as primary point of contact for DCF Child Protective Investigators to accept and
Provides recommendations and make referrals based on needs of the family.
Provides direct services to families on triage list prior to assignment to Diversion or other
Acts as liaison for other service providers to refer and link families to services.
Participates in any necessary staffings involving cases on triage status in order to expedite
referral and placement.
Assists in the development of a crisis/safety plan in conjunction with DCF/CPI.
Facilitates initial case review of all new cases and assists in the assignment of cases based
on Team strength.
Assists DCF Child Protective Investigators in offering solutions for families considered high
risk upon referral.
Represents Agency in community or in interagency activities.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in Social Work or related Human
Services field preferred and a minimum of at least two years Child Protective Services
experience. Child Welfare Certification is required.
Valid and current driver’s license; appropriate insurance and reliable car.
Bodily liability insurance in the amount of : $100,000/claim;
Must submit to and pass an employment drug test.
Must submit to and pass random drug tests during employment.
Must successfully pass all background screens as required by the state.
Advanced computer skills in Windows environment.
Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office including but not limited to: Access,
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Visio.
Must complete a minimum of 40 hours of in-service training annually
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Child Welfare Certification required.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions. Ability to interpret and understand the complex variables involved in Child
Protection in order to make reliable recommendations as to the removal and the safety planning
CULTURAL COMPETENCY: Ability to relate. Understands, accepts, and interacts in a
culturally sensitive manner.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical
procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and
procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from
groups of employees, managers, clients, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest,
commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply
concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
